Another month went by in the Life of Benji. It’s getting hot here. It’s not even Summer yet and we have seen a heat index of 105 °F. already. Therefore, higher authorities decided to try the blue wet stuff again. I have webbed feet and for some reason, that means I should like swimming. What kind of logic is that?!

“Hmm, yummies or squeakies that is the question“
A perfectly good A-frame (the humans called it a ramp) had been put in the blue liquid. I ask you, why would anyone want to do that?! The humans tried to lure me in with yummies and squeakies. I tried to be a good sport and walked down the ramp until I got my paws wet but that’s where I drew the line. I mean what’s the point? As soon as you hit the liquid, it feels like the brakes are on. There is no way to run fast. Besides, I didn’t see any fun jumps and tunnels. So my advice for next time: remove the wet stuff and add some exciting obstacles.

Mom tried to get us in a kiddie pool in the back yard. That didn’t work out so well, either. ~Lucy

That was tried in my backyard too. I showed M then and there that this is not for me but she can be pretty stubborn.

Benji, you have really hot there, we never have had that hot, it is burning hot! Do you have rain at this time of a year? I think, if the temperature is over 100 it would be nice to swim, but maybe you take a cool shower.

We have lots of rain too Kosmo. It helps but it also brings mosquitoes which I despise. Stay cool, Benji

All dogs were required to have a life vest on at this place. It’s not a bad idea when it’s their first time. A.

Whatever, you look fab in your orange vest, Benji! I’ve requested an orange vest from Resa & Belén.

A nice orange vest like Benji can be very useful in Lake Ontario …

To captain a boat, one needs a boat too….

the staff tried that too… a fb-friend suggested a battery operated toy boat with a snack to get me in the ocean… I refused to follow the boat and the snack and made a big fuss while the boat and the snack disappeared ….

Haha, a snack boat, I love it! Can’t say I blame you for getting upset when it disappeared. Stay dry, Benji

I’m surprised Benji resisted considering he seems to like sailing on the ocean! Perhaps he just needed a rubber ducky or some toy to encourage him to hop right in.

He’s fine on the boat but we want him to show us that he is comfortable in the water too just in case. So far none of the dogs have gone overboard and we don’t sail with dogs in rough weather but we want to be sure they are safe in the water too. Ms. Zulu loves the water.

Especially on the ocean, I can see where that would be important. I’m surprised Ms. Zulu is comfortable in water considering how much water in her fur must weigh her down.

We went to a doggie pool at the vet yesterday and he had a blast in the shallow part so there is hope.

Must be a Southern thing! What a great idea, though: a doggie pool at the veteroinarian’s!

They offer boarding and play dates there too. It’s fun.

Benji does love Duckies, so maybe a rubber ducky will work.

Sam is with you on that one. No H2O for that poodle. Stay cool, Benji. Can’t believe it isn’t officially summer yet…the heat has been unbearable and even if ours is a ‘dry heat’ you can have it!

Haha, we will try our ‘humid heat’ for ‘dry heat’ anytime. The ZAB team.

I’d evaporate in a high humidity/high temp environment. Or more likely, pass out.

We are barely hanging in. There is only one escape and that’s the pool…

On the high humidity days, how can you tell if you’re in the pool or not? 🤣

Dear Benji, you are the only sailor … sorry, captain of ship that I know with so many problems with the liquid element, never forget your vest when you are on board, it is essential !!
Hugs.

I will keep that in mind. However, a second trip to another pool showed everyone that I do love the liquid as long as I can stand. So for now I’m gonna captain the ship in shallow waters only.
