Yesterday we had a visit from a very stately creature, a Monarch! This was a first this year for us. The Monarch was all by itself, no entourage, no slaves. There was not even a carriage drawn by horses to be found.Β The VIP was surrounded by Monarch wannabees, the Fritillaries, distant cousins of the Monarchs which are not bees either. All very pretty, but pretty confusing to me. I took a big nap afterward to digest it all without having eaten one bit.
Dreaming of yummies in my tummy,
Benji
To more royal visits and some accompanying tummy treats. I mean after all, you can’t have a visit by royalty without a feast, right?

Ohhh, have to tell M, hadn’t thought about that but we better get started with the feast! B

Benji, you are being funny today. No wonder it looks like you are laughing. Please try not to eat the Monarch, Happy Sunday.

Haha, I won’t, they’re too fast anyways. Happy Sunny Day to you all too! Benji.

I have not seen any monarch butterflies here, just the yellow swallowtails. Nice photos!

The Tiger Swallowtail are certainly beautiful too! The butterflies are so big, I never saw them in the Netherlands when I was growing up (https://anarette.wordpress.com/2018/08/23/butterflies/)
